Thank you for 500

Thank you for 500

Matthew 6:33 Seek Ye first the kingdom of God and His righteousness, and all these things shall be added unto you.

Today is my 500th OneMinuteMinistry devotional. Today is different, it is more of a thank you letter than a devotional. I was headed up I-77 one day when God laid this ministries name on my heart. I shared it with a friend, and God used him to prod me on to start writing. When I searched the domain name it came back available in all domains: .com, .org, .txt. .me, and so on. A direct confirmation from God to me for what he had laid on my heart. It started with a handful of you in a news media fast for 30 days , for a January resolution in 2012. It grew into the blog/website, and an email list, that I now personally send it out to about 1,100 people every morning. I have received news that it has gotten into a very large ministries distribution recently by an incredible God orchestrated event. I stand amazed consistently at how God works.

Many of you ask how I do it; why I do it; when I do it. The answers are all found in Matthew 6:33 above. I get up very early every morning and spend time with God. I reflect on what he has shown me in my life in relation to what he shows me in His Word. I am humbled by how He has revealed Himself to me every morning. You can have it all to; there is nothing special about me. The bottom line of my ministry is to point you to spending daily time with God. We all have come to that point of wanting more, yet we never seek Him with a genuine heart. We flippantly read the Bible or pray, and feel good about going to church for an hour one day. I was that guy for most of my life, buried in the false security of religion, and would have died in it if it were not for Christ stirring my soul. All the answers you desire for your life are found once you seek God with all your heart every day. Matthew 22:37 Jesus said to him, “‘You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart, with all your soul, and with all your mind.’ 38 This is the first and great commandment. It will not be easy; He never promises us that; but with it will come eternal security and peace that the world cannot provide. You will gain an understanding that all the trials of life that you face are only temporary. They all can draw you closer to God, and they all will remind you of the eternal paradise that awaits you as a child of His.

Christ last words to us are known as the Great Commission. Matthew 28:19 Go therefore and make disciples of all the nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, 20 teaching them to observe all things that I have commanded you; and lo, I am with you always, even to the end of the age.” Amen. Nowhere in the Bible does he tell us to say a prayer, sign a card, and continue on as we were before. There should be a change in your life, a call to action in your life, you are told by Christ to make disciples. You are to share the hope that you have in Him. You are called to give the bad news of sin, followed by the Good News of Salvation in faith in Christ alone. You are to spend your life in pursuit of Him with all your heart, mind, body, and strength. This brings about a state of abiding; a state of being in Christ. This is the goal of the Father, to make you like his Son, to make you a light in a dark world. What in your life could possibly be holding you back from dedicating your life to the One who created it, sustains it, and restored it for eternity with Him?

Behind these blue eyes

Behind these blue eyes

Matthew 6:34 Therefore do not worry about tomorrow, for tomorrow will worry about its own things. Sufficient for the day is its own trouble.

I am no different from you. I am in many ways likely struggling with life just like you, maybe even more. I just like you put on my happy face and give cordial responses when asked, but wherein does the truth lie? Who do you have in your life that truly knows what your deepest struggles are, those that are warring inside your head? Even my wife and best friend do not know the level of warfare inside my head. My greatest sin is pride, and my confidentiality is wrapped up in it. Do you bear you soul to those closest to you? Sometimes the battles get so great that I feel as though I am loosing my mind; my memory is the first to suffer in these strains. That produces more strain from the understanding of my DNA and the disease of Alzheimer’s. It is almost a vicious cycle. There is One who knows all that I am under, and the heart I have for Him.

I find myself in Matthew Six repeatedly. Real personal advice from the mouth of Christ on how to live my life daily. Where to focus, where to place our trust, where to place our hope, what to do every single day. Matthew 6:33 Seek Ye first the kingdom of God and His righteousness, and all these things shall be added unto you. The understanding of all that this life has, is found in that scripture and the pursuit of it. Nowhere in it does it say it will be easy, but in it is found true understanding of eternity. It it is found spending time in God’s Word and prayer, and therefore you will come to possess the strength to face and fight all that you battle every day. You will learn that it is temporary, and the rewards are eternal. You will understand that you sin because you are a sinner, and the forgiveness is only found in Him. You will learn that you are saved by God’s grace alone, through faith alone; that you can never do enough to earn it. (Ephesians 2:8)

God wants to grow you closer to Him. This means that He will put acts of obedience before you to gauge where your faith lies. He may take you down very hard roads that you would not have traveled to accomplish his purpose. He may seemingly hurt you to grow you more into the image of his Son. All He desires is to make us more like Christ. 2 Corinthians 3:8 And we all, with unveiled face, beholding the glory of the Lord, are being transformed into the same image from one degree of glory to another. For this comes from the Lord who is the Spirit. You may not share with others all your deepest struggles, but you can share them with the One who already knows them. He has either designed it or allowed it to accomplish his purposes. The more time you spend with God every day, the more you come to understand the struggles in life are just for a moment, and that moment is to draw you closer to eternity.

Born Again 01/20/12

his chapter in John has some “famous” verses in it. It is also where Christ is speaking to a Jewish pastor that hid under the cover of darkness to come and speak to him. He was afraid of what people might think if he was caught speaking to Christ, but he was drawn to him. Spend some time in the book of John, it is impossible to read John and not see Christ. It is a great book for a new believer to read also. I hope you all have a great weekend, and I want to thank you for letting me share where Christ has spoken to me each morning. It and you have been a great encouragement to me.

Born Again

John 3:3     Jesus answered and said to him, “Most assuredly, I say to you, unless one is born again, he cannot see the kingdom of God.”

Christ was responding to a question by a Jewish pastor here. A leader in the church, who silently at night came to see Jesus because he did not understand. Do you think that being a good person, or going to church, or being better than that “bad” person will ‘earn’ you way into heaven? Salvation is a representation of new life, being born again. It is something that until you possess it, you cannot begin to understand it. The Holy Spirit will shed a different light on the way you view everything, and He will begin to help you understand your bible as you never have before.

We have the busyness of our day, and the American dream that tells us we can do anything that we put our mind to. If we want any goal set before us, all we must do is put our minds to the task, and press on until we accomplish it. It will never be easy, it will require a lot of long hours, dedication, and perseverance to accomplish what we desire to accomplish. This will never get you into heaven. “Nor or your ways My ways (Isaiah 55:8).” You can only humble yourself, confess your sins, accept Christ as the ONLY Way, and be born again.
