God’s Sovereignty > Politics

God Still Protects Israel

Isaiah 41:10-12 Fear not, for I am with you; Be not dismayed, for I am your God. I will strengthen you, Yes, I will help you, I will uphold you with My righteous right hand.’ 11 “Behold, all those who were incensed against you Shall be ashamed and disgraced; They shall be as nothing, And those who strive with you shall perish. 12 You shall seek them and not find them– Those who contended with you. Those who war against you Shall be as nothing, As a nonexistent thing.

I am about as anti-political a person as you will find. I don’t get wrapped up in any political jargon, discussion, arguments, nonsense, or to be honest even care. I am however dismayed by the poor leadership of most political officers; I do vote so that I may have the right to, and yes even sometimes express my opinion. My stance of politics is simple, and biblical, and many of you will argue as such. Many of you will argue with what God states throughout the Bible; that he sets leaders in power, and by his design removes them from power. No, the popular vote is not in control, and yes, I know many of you wish to argue that too. To boggle the mind even further, think of the idea that God is using your votes, your free-will as such, to accomplish his will in the eternal landscape; and yes, many of you will argue the glimpse of his sovereignty in that statement also.

Last night I learned of a supposed plan against Israel by our president in his last days. The more I read, the more it bothered me, so I withdrew from researching it. God woke me up at 3:30am with a burden on my heart for Israel, and he laid Isaiah 40 on my heart. I checked my daily scripture verse, which was Isaiah 41, and I knew God was clearly placing me in his Word there. I read in these two chapters of the sovereignty of God; of his protection of Israel, of his power and design, of his love and provision, and it reminded me not to worry, for he is in control today just as much as he was thousands of years ago when he spoke through his prophet Isaiah. 41:4 Who has performed and done it, Calling the generations from the beginning? ‘ I, the Lord, am the first; And with the last I am He.’ “ I saw God’s promise to Israel, his promise of deliverance from their enemies, everlasting power and protection for eternity. I saw the power of God in the pages of time centuries before Jesus. Isaiah 40:21 Have you not known? Have you not heard? Has it not been told you from the beginning? Have you not understood from the foundations of the earth? 22 It is He who sits above the circle of the earth, And its inhabitants are like grasshoppers, Who stretches out the heavens like a curtain, And spreads them out like a tent to dwell in. 23 He brings the princes to nothing; He makes the judges of the earth useless. 24 Scarcely shall they be planted, Scarcely shall they be sown, Scarcely shall their stock take root in the earth, When He will also blow on them, And they will wither, And the whirlwind will take them away like stubble.

God spoke to me clearly as I read of the first account of the scripture we tie to John the Baptist’s proclamation of the coming Jesus Christ. 40:3 The voice of one crying in the wilderness: “Prepare the way of the Lord; Make straight in the desert A highway for our God. There is a biblical urgency of the gospel in this time; a call for repentance to those God has called unto himself. We must see clearly the world playing out with a biblical lens, sharpened by time in prayer and his Word to us. We must rely on God’s sovereign control over the universe, but we must diligently seek to share the eternal hope of Jesus for those who believe, and the Hell that awaits those who reject him. The days are upon us for his imminent return; are you living with that in view? Are you prepared for eternity that awaits? Are you sharing the Good News of Jesus Christ to those he has placed within your circle of influence? God applauds your affirmation, or begs to ask you why not.
